Expanding Global Partnerships: Vice Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat Leads Strategic Visit to China

Kabarak University continues to strengthen its global footprint in higher education through strategic international collaborations. On March 21, 2025, a high-level delegation led by Professor Henry K. Kiplangat, Vice-Chancellor of Kabarak University, visited a prestigious institution in China to explore opportunities for academic and industry cooperation.

During the visit, Professor Kiplangat and his team engaged in productive discussions with Gu Chunhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the host institution, alongside Vice President Fu Yang. The meeting, attended by senior university officials and Pan Junhao, Technical Director for the Middle East and Africa at Jiangsu GoodWe Technology Co., Ltd., focused on fostering institutional partnerships and strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

Recognizing the importance of global engagement, President Gu Chunhua reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to strengthening ties with African universities in alignment with the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China- Africa Cooperation. He proposed a tripartite partnership between Kabarak University, the host institution, and Jiangsu GoodWe Technology Co., Ltd. to drive joint research, student exchanges, and technological innovation in key academic fields.

Expressing his sincere appreciation for the warm reception, Professor Kiplangat emphasized the significance of meaningful collaboration in higher education. He extended an invitation for a reciprocal visit to Kenya, encouraging further discussions on institutional synergy. The talks were attended by notable Chinese university leaders, including Zeng Fenyu, Director of the International Exchange Department; Xu Qunjie, Director of the Development and Planning Department; Zhu Jun, Deputy Director of the Personnel Department; and Pan Hua, Executive Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management.

Kabarak University, a leading private institution of higher learning in Kenya, remains committed to providing quality and affordable education while fostering international partnerships. Established in 2000 by Kenya’s second president, Daniel T. Arap Moi, the university has grown into a distinguished center of excellence, with over 11,000 students enrolled across its seven schools: the School of Business and Economics, School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Law, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, School of Music and Media, School of Pharmacy, and the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology.
