Empowering Oncology Pharmacy: Kabarak University Hosts National Preceptorship Training

Dr. Titus Suge, Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Kabarak University, in partnership with Prof. Fredrick Chite, Executive Director of the International Cancer Institute–Eldoret, recently led a transformative two-day Oncology Pharmacy Preceptorship Training. The event brought together oncology pharmacists from across Kenya, reinforcing the university's commitment to advancing specialized pharmaceutical education and cancer care.

The training was specifically designed to empower oncology pharmacists with the knowledge and skills required to mentor postgraduate students pursuing a Master of Pharmacy in Oncology Pharmacy at Kabarak University. These students undergo experiential clinical rotations, and the role of a skilled preceptor is critical in shaping their competence and professionalism.

Through this initiative, Kabarak University aims to ensure that trainees gain the core competencies needed to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered oncology pharmaceutical care. The program reflects the university’s dedication to bridging academic excellence with real-world clinical impact—ultimately contributing to improved cancer treatment outcomes across the country.
