Kabarak University, through its School of Science, Engineering and Technology (SSET), proudly participated in the 2025 Data Science Africa (DSA) Workshop and Conference, held at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, from June 2nd to 6th, 2025. The University was represented by a distinguished delegation led by the Dean of SSET, Prof. Peter Rugiri, alongside faculty members and student representatives. This marked a significant milestone in strengthening Kabarak University’s regional and international collaborations in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence.
Themed “Responsible Data Science: A Practical Path for Sustainable Development,” the DSA 2025 event convened leading researchers, industry experts, and practitioners from across Africa. The climax of the event featured high-level workshops, keynote speeches, and panel discussions aimed at sharing practical, research-based solutions to address Africa’s development challenges through the lens of data science and responsible AI.
Kabarak University’s active participation underscored its commitment to fostering cross-institutional partnerships, particularly with the University of Ibadan and the broader Data Science Africa community. It also reflected the institution’s dedication to data-driven innovation, ethical use of artificial intelligence, and inclusive engagement of women and youth in STEM disciplines.
Through such engagements, Kabarak University continues to demonstrate leadership in emerging technologies, academic collaboration, and transformative research, thereby contributing to the building of a sustainable and data-informed future for Africa and beyond.
