Kabarak University Hosts Benchmarking Visit from Umma University Delegation

Kabarak University had the honour of hosting a distinguished delegation from Umma University for a two-day benchmarking visit, aimed at fostering institutional collaboration and sharing best practices in academic administration and technology-enhanced learning. The delegation was led by Dr. Hawa Omar, Registrar – Academic and Student Affairs, alongside Ms. Anne Wairimu Maguta, Dean of the School of Business and Technology.

The focus of the visit was to engage with key administrative units and explore the operational frameworks that support academic excellence at Kabarak. The team interacted with the departments overseeing Kabarak University Online (KABUO), the Registry, and Admissions, gaining a deeper understanding of the systems and processes that underpin service delivery across the university.

At the heart of the benchmarking exercise was KABUO—Kabarak’s robust online learning platform. The team examined its governance structure, instructional design, quality assurance mechanisms, and learner support services. The visit provided valuable insights into how Kabarak leverages digital technologies to ensure continuity, flexibility, and academic integrity in virtual learning environments.

In addition, the Registry department shared its comprehensive approach to managing student records, policy formulation, and the operations of the Central Registry. The discussions highlighted the critical role of well-structured registry systems in ensuring data accuracy, institutional accountability, and student success.

The delegation also explored the university’s Admissions Office, where they reviewed the end-to-end processes of student enrollment, application evaluation, and onboarding. Particular interest was paid to Kabarak’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and delivering a seamless experience for prospective students.

Umma University, with campuses in Kajiado and Thika, is a fast-growing private institution committed to providing higher education grounded in Islamic values. Its academic portfolio spans disciplines such as Business Management, Computer Science, Islamic Studies, and Nursing.
