Equity CEO Dr. James Mwangi Pays a Courtesy Call to Kabarak University VC Prof. Henry Kiplangat Ahead of the 16th Annual Education and Leadership Congress

Kabarak University was honored to welcome Dr. James Mwangi, Group Managing Director and CEO of Equity Group Holdings PLC., who paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 15th April 2025. The high-level engagement between these two visionary leaders reflected mutual dedication to transforming lives through education, values, and innovation.

During their meeting, Dr. Mwangi commended Kabarak University for maintaining a sterling reputation as a center of excellence in education, rooted in Christian values and integrity. He lauded the university’s commitment to academic rigor, innovation, and character formation, describing it as “a model for higher education in Africa.” Prof. Kiplangat reaffirmed Kabarak’s dedication to nurturing transformative leaders, noting that partnerships with like-minded institutions such as Equity Group Holdings are vital to this mission.

The visit coincided with the ongoing Equity Group Foundation's 16th Annual Education and Leadership Congress, held at the Kabarak University Convocation Hall. Themed "The Innovation Generation: Igniting Ideas and Creating Impact," the congress brought together over 4,500 Wings to Fly and Elimu scholarship beneficiaries from across the country. The scholars—many of whom have overcome immense challenges—gathered for mentorship, skill-building, and inspiration over the course of the multi-day event.

Among the highlights of the congress were sessions on AI for Good, Thriving Through Adolescence, Navigating Social and Academic Pressure, and From Ideas to Impact: Building a Resilient and Innovative Mindset. Scholars also received guidance on university placement through KUCCPS, participated in branch-level mentorship sessions, and engaged with industry leaders, healthcare professionals, and thought leaders.

Dr. Mwangi, the guest of honor and keynote speaker, delivered a powerful and deeply motivating address to the energized students. With his trademark charisma and clarity, he urged the scholars to take bold steps in shaping their futures. “Kabarak University is not just among the best in Kenya,” he stated, “but it ranks among the best globally for students who dare to dream and work for it.”

Prof. Kiplangat welcomed the scholars warmly, encouraging them to embrace excellence and discipline in all they do. “With the right mindset and support,” he told them, “each of you can chart a course to remarkable success—and institutions like Kabarak University are here to walk that journey with you.”

As the sun set over the hills of Kabarak, the visit and the congress itself stood as a beacon of possibility—an affirmation that with faith, partnership, and purpose, the youth of Kenya can indeed become the innovation generation.
