Kabarak University VC Engages Parliament on Strengthening Private Universities

Our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, joined other esteemed leaders from private universities in a strategic engagement with the National Assembly's Departmental Committee on Education at Bunge Tower, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi, on June 24, 2025.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Hon. Clive Gisairo, brought together members of the Kenya Association of Private Universities (KAPU) to deliberate on critical issues affecting the private higher education sector. The discussions centered on enhancing research, promoting innovation, and ensuring the financial sustainability of private universities across the country.

Prof. Kiplangat, alongside his counterpart Prof. Stephen Mbugua, Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), underscored the indispensable role of private universities in Kenya’s academic landscape. The leaders emphasized the need for strengthened policy frameworks and enhanced government support to enable private institutions to contribute more effectively to national development.
