In a meaningful step toward strengthening holistic well-being within its community, Kabarak University on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, held a special chapel service at the Convocation Hall that featured the commissioning of its new Peer Counselling program. This initiative is designed to promote mental health awareness and encourage peer-to-peer support among students and the wider university family.
The service, held in the university’s vibrant chapel, blended spiritual reflection, artistic expression, and a strong sense of community. Attendees enjoyed uplifting presentations from various Faith Ministries, showcasing the richness and diversity of spiritual life on campus. The School of Music and Media Band added a powerful layer to the worship experience with their heartfelt musical performances.
A key moment in the service was the meditation shared by the University Chaplain, Rev. Laban K. Kittony, whose message deeply resonated with the congregation. He encouraged reflection on inner strength and highlighted the importance of maintaining both spiritual and mental wellness in everyday life.
The Vice-Chancellor brought the service to a close with warm remarks, acknowledging and appreciating the presence of guests. He also extended a sincere thank-you to the students and the entire Kabarak community for their dedication and continued service in God’s work.
This commissioning marks a new chapter in Kabarak University’s commitment to supporting students not just academically, but emotionally and spiritually, recognizing the growing importance of mental health and the power of walking alongside one another in community.
