Empowering Education: Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching Trains Staff on Competency-Based Education for 21st-Century Skills

In a bid to enhance the quality of education and teaching practices, Kabarak University's Directorate of Excellence in Learning and Teaching recently organized a training session on Competency-Based Education (CBE) for its staff members. The training, held at the university auditorium, aimed to equip the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the essence of CBE, the distinction between Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Knowledge-Based Curriculum (KBC), 21st-century skills in higher education, the Basic Education Curriculum Framework (BECF), the implications of BECF to the curriculum, and the challenges and solutions in implementing CBC.

Data Science Africa: 2023 Summer School and Workshop

A team of 6 faculty and 22 students from Kabarak University attended the Data Science Africa 2023 Summer School and Workshop that was held at the University of Rwanda in Kigali from 8th - 12th May, 2023. The event was a huge success, with over 230 participants from 15 African countries, including Algeria, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda.

In a heartwarming display of collaboration and shared purpose, a visiting team from Indiana University, led by Ms. Nicole Anderson, joined the Kabarak University Department of Public Health in a community service initiative in the Mogotio area. Emerald Waters, A River Reborn: Kabarak University's Quest for Safe Water in Mogotio

In the Mogotio area, along the banks of the Molo River, a remarkable transformation is taking place. The people living in this region consider the presence of a brown-colored water river as a blessing, despite its apparent contamination. For years, they have been utilizing this water for various purposes such as washing cars, and motorcycles, cooking, and even drinking directly from it. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the proliferation of waterborne diseases and numerous cases of diarrhea in the local health facilities.

A Team from Indiana University School of Public Health visit to Explore Collaboration Potential with Kabarak University

A team from Indiana University School of Public Health is visiting Kabarak University in Kenya with the aim of exploring collaboration opportunities and fostering a partnership between the two institutions. The Indiana University team is led by Ms. Nicole Anderson, who is the Director for International Programs for the School of Public Health. The team met with University management led by Prof. John Ochola, who was representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat, currently engaged in official duties outside the University.
